Forerunner 235 doesn't keep correct distance when hiking

My Garmin will pause when hiking therefore the distance isn't correct after the hike. I have tried having it set on Other as well as Run. The map will show the correct route. I have been to Customer Support 2X with this issue and nothing they have me do corrects it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have no problem when running; it gives me the correct information.

Well, maybe add some more info what exactly is wrong and where, maybe with some example.

When there is a problem with GPS, then a path is cut, a part when position was lost is completed by just a straight line. If you have all correct path, then distance should be also ok.

You can export your activity as GPX and open it in some other mapping software, so you can check distance.
