Forerunner 235 not recording distance and elevation correctly

Hi,

I recently bought a used Forerunner 235 to record my mountain bike rides (to replace using my Iphone which uses too much battery power) and upload to Strava

Anyway on the same trails it is consistently recording around 5% less distance and 14% less on the elevation than recorded on  my iphone. A friend records the same ride with his ege 830.

My phone records very close to the edge 830.

I have the elevations corrections activated on the connect webpage, but it doesn't correct. I have ensured that all of the distance parameters are selected all the same i.e. the watch is set to Km and m. Garmin connect is set the same as is Strava.

Any ideas?

  • Hover on question-mark for description, when elevation corrections are turned on, then data is from the map, not recorded by the watch. It differs a lot, from last run I have elevation: 600m (the watch) vs. 140m (the map).

So difference between the phone and the watch it's probably just maps' data.

  • I agree that it will record differently to my phone, but I would expect it to be closer to the garmin edge 830. It is consistently out by a long way.

Yesterday elevation was out by 700m
