Forerunner 235 not tracking steps / activity.

For the last few weeks my Garmin Forerunner 235 keeps getting stuck on the step count, and is massively out on steps. I be tried rebooting / turning the device off but it gets stuck. When I know I’ve walked 6/7kms step count might be 950 steps. If I track an activity it will accurately track distance / pace etc but this just seems to be a recent issue with the steps feature being massively out by 1000’s and freezing constantly. My partners device has been having a similar issue.

I’d appreciate if anyone could kindly assist?

During an activity - a distance is recorded with GPS (if turned on). Without starting it, distance is from accelerometer which guess steps basing on movement and settings for step length. So check those values and if there is a natural hand movement.
