Recovery advisor and vo2 max stats wonky

My Forerunner 235 is has been telling me that I need multiple days recovery from even short runs over the past couple of weeks. My vo2 max has suddenly just dropped from 52 to 45. At first I thought maybe I was under the weather but now, 3 days away from a race, feeling fit, I'm pretty sure it's the watch and not me.

Any ideas on what to do? I'd rather not reset the watch but is this the best answer?

  • Sometimes it's accurate, sometimes less so. If you fell that you need shorter break, then do as you fell. After running more frequently, recovery times will adjust and be shorter, no need to reset.

  • Wow your experience (and the timing of around beginning of July 2021) match mine exactly.  Even the VO2max numbers almost exactly the same.   And I am on my HRM (910XT) that I have used consistently for 8-10 years. The only thing that changed is I did a reset on it recently, so it has lost all my history .. was assuming that made the calculations start from scratch.  Your comments and timing make me wonder if recent updates changed their calculation methodology or something.  Had a great 5-mile run yesterday and the RA was 3 days !  I have never had the Advisor stated in more than hours before.  Not going to follow it - seems like something is broken.
