Garmin 230 charging cable melted my charging port?

I've had my garmin for around a year now, and it has worked perfectly fine for the duration I have owned it. Today, however, I unplugged my charger to find that the charging cable I have continued to use melted one of the copper charging terminals on the watch, and it now refuses to charge after trying multiple chargers

  • Melted or corroded? Melting a copper terminal would require extremely high temperatures or aggresive chemicals.

  • yes, sounds like corrosion, have you used any chemicals recently?  Try rubbing off with eraser or light sanding maybe?

copper(or plastic for that mater) isn't going to melt unless under extremely high (welding level) electrical power!  A usb port unless it has failed horribly!!!!!!  Is very very low power in both voltage and current.

One of the most common reason for corrosion occuring on the charging pins is connecting the charging cable when the connector is wet or dirty.
