'New' forerunner 235, higher VO2max

My Forerunner 235 was broken, it was impossible to recharge. Went back to the shop and they have shipped them to be made.

Yesterday the watch got returned to me. They said it was my fixed watched, but I'm 100% sure that it's a different watch. (different strap, minor scratch in the old watch but not on the new one etc.) In the shop they said: 'then it's probably a new one', but a new one which is not in a box seems strange to me.

Atlhough I still wonder whether it's someone elses watch, a refurbished one or a totally new one, that's not my point. Today I ran with it and my VO2 max went from 50 to 59 within 3 weeks. This seems impossible to me? What can be the problem?

It is most likely a refurbished unit.

The problem is the watch needs to collect more data for more accurate VO2max assessment. VO2max should settle to a more reasonable value after a couple of weeks. Also make sure your HR parameters (like max HR) are set correctly.
