Switched Cell Phones & Now I Cannot Bluetooth Pair

When I select my Forerunner 235 under Available Devices on my new phone, it says "Bluetooth pairing request", and I must enter PIN number. It says "usually 0000 or 1234". I tried those and known PIN numbers I use, and NONE of them work. So what do I do now to connect???
  • Make sure your watch is in pairing mode. Then using the Garmin Connect app on your phone go through the pairing process - Garmin Devices >> Add device >> Select device >> Search for device > At some point you should see the Bluetooth PIN on your watch.

I have the same problem I face .samsung galaxy j3
  • You shouldn't have to just "try" any PIN's. It should be visible on the watch if you're in pairing mode on the watch.

When I go to BLUETOOTH on my watch, it just toggles between "Bluetooth off" and "Bluetooth waiting to connect", nothing else, no PIN displayed.
  • Maybe I'm missing something. Just to make sure, you do need to do the Bluetooth setup from the Garmin Connect Mobile app, not from the Bluetooth settings on your phone.

    Pairing Your Smartphone

When I use the Garmin Connect Mobile app, whilst my watch is in the "Waiting to Connect" mode, I do a device search on my smartphone, it fails to find my watch!!!
  • Suggest contacting Garmin support by phone.

You mean, like, Garmin doesn't actually pay attention to the forums? Say it ain't so!

I went searching for this problem and there's no response from Garmin or even an acknowledgement they broke something that should never have been broken.

You need to completely unpair the watch from the old phone first... you do this from within the Garmin Connect app itself, but on my iphone I also had to go into the Bluetooth settings on the old phone and "forget this device" from there... my new phone was then able to find the watch using Bluetooth pairing via the app as normal.
  • Your watch can't be connected to 2 phones at the same time and there could be a conflict. I don't think you need to unpair your old phone however you should turn off bluetooth on the old phone while you're pairing to the new one so that it's not already connected where you don't want it.
