Cadence lock?

lately my forerunner has been showing normal heart rate values for the first mile of an easy run but it suddenly spikes during the second mile. It will go up to 160-185 for the remainder of what is a very easy run. Is my heart rate locking to my cadence? I’ll attach an image below
  • I have one of my customized screens show only 2 items ... my HR and my cadence ... pretty easy to see if your HR is locking to cadence DURING the run this way. I tend to encounter cadence lock now and then ... usually when I am going up hill and my HR is climbing ... it seems to want to continue climbing, past my actual HR and locks onto cadence instead. I usually catch it and pause the run for 20 seconds or so, then resume, or slow my cadence down for a short while also seems to snap the HR back into reality.

  • Sorry I’m not sure if you can see the image. I’ll reattach it here. It’s not exactly the same in every place but there are a lot of areas where they are either the same or within 1-2 numbers of each other. It just seems strange to me that my heart rate would be so high on very easy slow runsciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1354573.png
  • It looks like it could be cadence lock, but in any case, it does appear to be false HR readings ... happens from time to time whether it is cadence lock or maybe wearing the watch too loose ...? The wrist HR isn't perfect ... less perfect for some. I'd suggest doing what I said in my previous post so you can catch/correct these weird readings while you run so the HR reading don't mess up your entire run. If this persists, I'd contact Garmin because it doesn't appear right.
