Display gets yellow edges

Since the end of December 2017 I own a FR 235. Meanwhile the edges of the display turn yellow/brown. Right side a bit more. I can see it on white backgrounds but even on my watchfaces that have yellowed numbers in these areas. Some watchfaces I can't use or not with blue colors because they look a bit green there, espacially right side. It's really annoying because it's now the second watch that has this problem. My FR 35 got these yellowed areas after a few months too. When I contaced Garmin last year because of the FR 35 they told me that I should contact them if I can't read the display anymore or if something else fails. Before that will happen it wouldn't be a case for repair/replacement.

Has anybody else these problems with the display? Obviously Garmin's displays have a poor quality. But not only the displays... The piece of the strap that holds the end og the strap while wearing it on your wrist gets wider and wider and slides so everythings hangs... Had it extremely on the FR 35 where I used tons of tapes to make the strap thicker, now I get it with the FR 235 too.
  • I had a very similar-looking issue on my FR735XT, which - I guess - has the same display type. I posted some photos here in the FR735XT forum and I was contacted by Garmin support and I was offered a replacement. My new watch does not exhibit this issue so far.
  • I don't know if your watch is the one I remember. I saw a picture of a FR 735 with dark edges that had sharp borders between the dark area and the normal area. Well, on my FR 235 (and the FR 35) the area isn't so dark and sharp bordered yet. Maybe I have to wait until it looks like that. At the moment I have a yellowed display, a small area in the middle is still normal. The right side is more yellowed. Some watchfaces look really ugly now, especially blue ones that look a bit green there. I don't know if it will become worse. I still have my FR 35 that lies on my desk. The switched off display is bright (not dark as at the FR 235) and obviously the edges haven't become darker.
  • This was my thread:
    https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/running/forerunner-735xt-aa/1253485-my-fr735xt-is-growing-a-shadow

The thing looked slightly different on a photo than in real life. The shadow was yellowish-brown, had a soft edge and kept growing.
  • My display isn't so dark yet. But there is already a difference between the middle and the left and especially the right side. I don't know the reason for it. I wear it everyday, in the sun etc. It's a sports watch with fitness tracking, it should withstand that.

    Probably low quality cheap components.

    Indeed.

I have a same problem now, after about 2 years on Garmin Fenix 3 ... My display is getting yellow from the bottom and it sucks on watches that costs about 400€...

  • My 735 that I bought while my 235 was sent to Garmin (and replaced later) so that I could continue HM training is yellow at the edges too. Right side more than left side. Very poor quality of the displays.
