Watch unexpected turning off at autolap apparently related to battery level

The last two months my FR230 during three runs unexpectedly turned off at autolap.
The battery level was alll three times about 25-30%.

The normal behaviour of the watch is during the run activity to show a message of "battery low" before turning off.
And usually it happenns with a battery level aroun 5%.

This issue happened with firmware 7.50 and also 7.60.
  • the same happened to me. the battery level was even about 40 - 50% ( in my case I have used also garmin premium HRM). without any warning the device has turned off many times. it is annoying, before every running I have to fully charged my device
  • This happens to me if my battery is below 50 percent. It seems to only happen in the cold when a notification goes off (e.g., lap notification).
  • I can confirm this. Just today my watch stopped both at km 6 and 8. It was rather cold at -5° C but I am not sure about the battery status.

Unfortunately it happened again yesterday with battery level at 50%.
At 3rd km autolap the FR230 shutted down.
I think it was also related to the freezing temperature at -3°C.

Before the run I updated the firmware to the 7.70 release

I thonk this issue is related to the voltage of the battery. In some way the firmware privilege to save the activity before the voltage of the battery becomes too low.
If it is like that I'm worried the battery of my FR230 is drecreaseng its performance.

It is recommended that when running in cold temperatures that the battery be charged to 100% before starting the activity. This will help to prevent the battery from discharging or the device from shutting down in the cold weather.

Thanks for the advice for cold temperatures situations but I experienced the unexpected shutting down also in warm temperatures (8°C/10C°) with a battery level at 30%.

My FR230 work properly until about two months ago giving me an alert of battery low.

Now it shut down after an autolap alert.

Could it depend on some app I installed?

I am not aware of any specific issues where a specific app that was installed would cause an issue like you described. Since you have experienced this in warmer temperatures as well, I would encourage you to contact Product Support. You can send an email to [email protected]. Our Product Support team would be able to get all the specific information about your device and how it is set up in order to investigate this further.
