In this colder weather, my sleeve and glove will tend to cover my Garmin. I've always made an effort to fold them back to expose my watch so that the GPS will get a good signal. Is that necessary? If I allow my clothing to cover my watch, will it still get a good satellite signal?
When I go for walks I usually hand a long sleeve or jacket over my watch and they record fine. I guess it is probably dependant on the material of what’s covering but the easiest way to check is to go for a run and try!
In the winters once the temp is below -10c I purposely keep my 235 under my coat sleeve to prevent it from freezing, and only check it periodically. I've had no problems with bad gps errors during these runs. Granted, my "coat" is really just a plastic wind shield. But realistically a number of runners might keep their watch in a vest of pack while recording an event; most coats, and especially running coats shouldn't interfere too much with the gps signal reception.
