Alerts: distance

Hello!

Have a quick q? for those versed in adding a distance notification.

I've added a 500m notification for races (5k mostly), so I can make more granular tracking and make adjustments mid kilometre need it be. I'm actually trying this for the 1st time for a race this weekend.
After creating the setting, I noticed that I'm not given a pace w/ the notification. Is that how it works?? Is there no way of getting the a mid km or mi notification with the pace? I guess I could change my entire set up to give me 500m notifications, but I guess I'm basically asking for pace alerts @ both 500 and 1000m. I'm going to assume both aren't possible?? Thx!

Affirmative. You asked the watch to alert you when a particular distance is reached. That's not treated as a lap, split, or any other distinct interval over which summary statistics are calculated and reported.

As you've already alluded, auto-lapping every 500m will give you that "mid km" notification every second lap summary screen that pops up.

One "possible" solution is to develop (or commission the development of) a Connect‑IQ app, then install and execute it instead of the factory-installed Run activity profile.

However, I don't see why you can't just check the contents of the Lap Pace data field after the 500m notification within a 1km auto-lap, if all you're after is information to which you may choose to respond in the remaining 400-odd metres in that lap.
  • Hey, thanks for your reply. I was thinking mostly out loud with that one, and thought about it afterwards some more. My reason for the q? re: notifications was because I get the ⚠️ sign, and the 500m in the screen, w/ no time, and it sits there for a few seconds. W/o sounding like a diva, a large time stamp on the screen would be awesome - like the one I get @ 1k, so I'm not digging trough my data - just trying to do the least amount of work possible. But I'm going to play around with some setting and see what I get. +, i'm not afraid of possibly creating a custom CIQ app. Would make sense. Thanks again for replying! ;)
  • In my Peter's Pacer (The App) connect iq app you can set the lap size to 500 meter. If you also set the autoLap option you'll get a lap notification every 500 meters.
