Notifications missing (since updating my Android phone)

EDIT: SOLVED -- after a long series of troubleshooting steps, I toggled Notification Access permissions on and off, rebooted the phone, and notifications are working again.

Was thrilled last week to see Oreo show up on my Google Pixel. Since then, I'm not getting any notifications on my FR 235. Anyone else notice something similar? Not sure if the two events are related, or just a coincidence.

What doesn't work:

- notifications from my phone

What does work:

- I can sync from phone or watch
- find-my-phone works
- calendar, weather work

What I've tried:

- clearing cache and data from the Connect app
- restarting the watch (no factory reset please!!!)

Anything suspicious:

- I've been running the Connect Beta version -- problem persists if I toggle Beta off
- just updated the Pixel to Oreo (Android 8.0.0)
- in the Connect app -> Settings -> Smart Notifications I keep getting a pop-up though Smart Notifications is turned on in the access list

I have Vivoactive HR. I had the same issue. I toggled the Notifications Access Permissions and Smart Notifications (I was also keep getting a pop-up though Smart Notifications is turned on in the access list). After restarting, it works. It didn't work straight away after restarting though. Had to wait for a while. Paired it manually first.

In the end, it works now. Thank you for the update.

  • I'm getting this issue. I tried the above and still can't get notifications. Pixel 2, android oreo, Vivoactive 2
I also have android wear installed since that was required to get a Pebble to work.
