Hi all, I've had my Forerunner 235 for just over a week now and am getting very inaccurate readings when I run on an indoor track. The watch tracks my outdoor runs perfectly, but when I ran inside it tracked a 6 mile run as 4 miles (I'm positive it was 6, as I was counting my laps and was running at about a 8:45 pace for about 50 minutes). I have the GPS turned off, and I'm using the indoor run function. Does anyone know why it's so inaccurate? Every other post I can find says the indoor run feature is really reliable, so I must be doing something wrong here...
I believe the 235 needs a while running outdoors to get the accuracy for indoors. How many outdoor runs have you done? Also were the outdoor runs about the same pace or were they slower?
chunkywizard that must be it, I've only done one outdoor run, although it was at the same pace as my indoor runs. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it some time and log a few more outdoor runs!
As Wizard said ... you need a few runs outdoors (the more the better) to increase the accuracy inside. Also, I've found when running inside, your accuracy(distance measured/speed) will be best the closer you are to your AVERAGE outdoor pace/cadence. Sounds like your on a track, but if on a treadmill, avoid holding onto the handles ... your arm swing is measured by an accelerometer, so keep that the same as you would outside too.
