Garmin Forerunner 230 gps not connecting

So yeah, as the title implies, my garmin gps isn't catching any satellite signals. As its straight out of the box, I thought maybe that it was a normal thing in setup, but i've been trying to connect it for a little over an hour. I'm inside, but I have taken it outside for a few minutes. It just doesn't catch. Everything else seems to work properly, so is this just a defective model, or is this something that can be remedied?

    Hello N_nekoY,
I do not have a FR230 but many troubles can be repaired by doing a reset.
See the manual page 11 and "Restore All Default Settings".
  • It should be quick. Try syncing with Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express to update the EPO.BIN file and try again outside.

Yes, you need to leave it outside for more than a few minutes as the first time you use it it needs to download a fair bit of data from the satellites in order to determine where in the world it is. You need to be patient :)

Thank you everyone! Everything seems to be in working order. GPS now works, just some minor tracking errors.
