OHR not working 7.10

See pictures. The OHR sensor is not picking up an accurate HR for the first 5-10 min of my runs. It's showing a steady 138-140 bpm even though I'm very well aware it's in the 170's. It's not until I increase my speed by a good amount that it picks it up and jumps immediately to where it should be. It's never done this before, at least to this extent. It's known to take ~30 seconds to catch up at the beginning of the run, but 5-10 min is absurd. This basically makes the HR monitor (and the watch for my part) unusable. Any advice?

I'm guessing you haven't read all this thread, but I'm on my second watch now, already using the warranty for replacement.

If some watches are working fine and others not working properly, it means that there is a bad serie and you are quite RIGHT to ask for a new one until you have a good one !
    Do not lose the deal

    I'm glad yours is working.

My purpose was not to make you mad ...
Sorry if that's what you felt

I am still in discussions with Garmin, the replacement was a refurbished and now they have offered an brand new watch. I'll be gone a week for work, but when I get back I hope to have it and test the new one.

No worries, I was actually being sincere. It's nice to know others are working, gives me hope I'll eventually get mine fixed.

Try selecting the activity profile while you're sitting or walking around, and see how long it takes the WHR module to lock on. Even though the ‘Wrist Heart Rate ready’ toast notification has been removed from firmware v6.xx and v7.xx, you should still be able to tell by looking at the little heart icon in the top left ‘corner’ of the screen; if it's flashing instead of solid, then WHR isn't ready.

<30 seconds to 1 minute, usually.

The quicker your heart rate is changing, the more ‘difficult’ and longer it takes for the WHR module to become ready, so at the start of an activity (or even warm-up above the intensity of walking to the starting location) is the worst time to be activating the WHR module.

This seemed to work much better. I did an initial test on stationary bike at gym and check it against the bike's HR monitor. Consistently on
From 1:25-2:34 there is a dip and spike that aren't accurate. But, the rest of the time is accurate

Last night, I went to track and ran some intervals (first time in a month)
I brought up the activity screen in the car after parking, it took about 1-2 mins for heart lock. The walk to the track took about 2 mins, and right into my first 400M stride. It was extremely accurate with an immediate HR lock. Every interval and walk break was spot-on

I went directly from the track to the gym for an hour of stationary bike fat burn at AMHR (128-135 bpm)

There were some glitches. But, the first dip at 5:35 is due to the watch being a little loose at a bad spot on my wrist.
The spike at 41 mins and following two dips are due to the watch. Escpecially, that 3 minute dip at 68 bpm from 57:05 50 1:00:00

All things considered, I still think this is a vast improvement over what I was getting.
I will try again with the stationary bike this morning and tonight. I will pay more attention to watch placement on my arm to start with and see if that clears up the problems

Well, my problems with HR tracking have almost entirely been solved by:
    1) securing the watch above the wrist "knuckle" joint and making sure the sensor has complete contact with my arm
    2) selecting an activity and giving the watch 1-3 mins to lock in HR before hitting the start button. Usually, this takes <30 seconds

At most, I get a few seconds of instability at the beginning of an activity, and/or a single spike or dip to the 60's for a few seconds - even working hard on an elliptical
I've got almost 10 days of twice a day exercise and nearly all of it is spot-on HR tracking. So, I now consider this problem solved......for now!
