235 Weather Widget NEVER works

iphone and watch are connected. Rings and messages and other notifications are working fine through the app. But the app/widget on the watch NEVER - EVER works first thing, without opening up the app and doing a sync.

If I have to pick up my phone and open an app, its gonna just be the weather app.

Its okay if it doesn't work, just don't put it on my watch. Stop advertising it as a feature. Or better yet, fix it.

iphone 7 plus
ios 10.2.1
locations services for connect app - always
background refresh active for connect app

still won't work.

You can uninstall it if you wish; that's your prerogative. Garmin installs certain widgets by default that don't suit everyone; for example, I have no use for the VIRB widget.

Stop advertising it as a feature.
It sorta works on my FR235 paired with my Android phone. I just don't trust the information the widget provides, but that isn't Garmin's problem.

I wouldn't know if it works with an iPhone or not, since I wouldn't ever use an iPhone for my personal/everyday handset if I have a say in the matter. However, I seriously doubt that it works for nobody at all when the FR235 is connected to an iPhone running Garmin Connect Mobile, and if it works for some (under whatever are the ‘right’ conditions), then Garmin can reasonably advertise it as a feature even if it annoys you that you can't get it to work for you. You're welcome to treat it as a product issue, take it up with Garmin through the provided support channels, and try to work through it.
  • Works fine for me ... Android, however, I don't find it very accurate and rarely ever view it. An Apple issue perhaps ...

    Works fine for me to.

Though I cant see the point of the app. It has to be connected to phone so why wouldn't I just look at my phone ?

I guess my phone could be in a trail back pack when out on a run - but then I just open my eyes and look at the sky
  • On the iPhone the Garmin Connect mobile app has to be running in either the foreground or the background to get the weather and calendar notifications to work. I personally don't use either the weather or calendar, notifications are all I need.

This widget is rubbish. Tried everything if you delete everything it will connect for a day then stops. Vivoactive 3. Don’t buy it if you want the weather widget to work
