won't sync with Strava

I just got my FR230 today. Charged it up, took it for a run, got it synced up with the Garmin Connect app. Both my Garmin connect app and my Strava app show that they are connected but my run is not showing in Strava. Anyone have any recommendations? I've logged out and in, I've uninstalled and reinstalled - ugh! I've been fighting with this all evening
  • From posts I'm seeing, Strava syncing has been broken for the past 2 days. Some users reporting that it is taking several hours to sync up. I haven't recorded an activity since Saturday, so I cannot confirm.

So, assuming you have everything correct...

Also, did you configure Strava and Garmin syncing before or after your run?
  • I did a run tonight and it synced across to Strava within seconds. For me it's not broken.

I'm not sure if I connected the 2 apps before or after. Probably after because I was so anxious to try out the watch and I needed to get some miles in. Wait, no...probably beforehand while I was waiting for the watch to charge. But I was trying to handle everything from my phone. Just now I used my laptop, brought up Strava and did a manual upload that way. Activity in Strava!

BUT - I had not set up the Garmin Express on my laptop (which I just did). I'm wondering if maybe that was the source of the problem. I guess you need the Garmin Express AND the Garmin Connect to make it all cooperate??
  • I often sync using my phone and activities transfer across without issue.

The connection between the websites is what matters. Make sure that they are connected using a computer.

In Strava, check you have a connection under Settings. You should see a number of Social Connections on the right hand side of the page.

You can also check on Garmin Connect by going to Head and Shoulders > Account Information. If they are linked, you will see Strava listed under Applications with Read Permission.

If both of those are good, you should be good to go.

In both cases, the Strava and Garmin Connect mobile apps are picking up what is set on the websites. I always find it better to make changes on the websites.

    all good now

Just came in from a short run to see how it would go today. No problems at all! I was pleasantly surprised to see the Strava icon in the notification bar when I picked up my phone. Many thanks for the help. As far as I can tell I had everything set right except for that Garmin Express.

Can't get Strava permission at Connect

I removed permission for Strava on Connect and now I'd like to grant permission again, but I can't see how to do that. Strava still thinks I have permission! Any ideas? (920xt)

Garmin Connect will be listed under Social Connections.
