Can not enable gps

Hello,

I recently bought a Forerunner 235. After a few successful running activities, it is somehow not possible anymore to do a running activity because the profile dissapeared. Only indoor running.
When I looked why, I found out the GPS is turned off. In the settings, trying to enable GPS it doesn't work. The settings can not be changed from GPS "off" to either GPS "on" or GPS + GLONASS "on".

Since I have bought the watch, I have charged the battery twice through usb connect to a mac. Perhaps this triggered something?

Anyone have an idea how to solve this?

Thanks,

Check in the Activity Profiles settings on your FR235 (by pressing from the watch face), and make sure the toggle for Run is in the Show position (as opposed to Hide).

I'm not sure why that would be the case on your FR235. I just tried changing it under Activity Settings for the Run Indoor profile on my FR235, and had no problem setting it to either Normal-(GPS-only) or GPS-+-GLONASS.
  • Hi,

    Thank you for your

Check in the Activity Profiles settings on your FR235 (by pressing Attachment 39185Attachment 39187Attachment 39186Attachment 39186Attachment 39185Attachment 39186Attachment 39186Attachment 39185 from the watch face), and make sure the toggle for Run is in the Show position (as opposed to Hide).

"Run" is not a profile that is there. I only have "Run Indoor", "Bike", "empty", "Other". Al these are in the Show position. But "Run" profile is not there.

Furthermore when try to start the "Run indoor" activity, if I would go for a run, the watch freezes and I have to reset with the power on/off button.

Any idea? A software issue (which I would find strange, because the watch is only 2 weeks old).

    Thanks for your quick response.
There is no activity profile for "Run". Only "Indoor run", "Swim", "Other" and "empty". All these are on show.

I have also experienced twice that when starting an Indoor run activity, the watch freezes. I then have to start it up again.
  • Try poking around in either Garmin Express or Garmin Connect. At one point I stumbled on a way to add or remove fitness apps from the watch and I suspect you may have done just that without intending to.

Worst case you could also do a full reset to Default for everything. To do that got to Menu > Settings > System > Restore Defaults. You'll lose any recorded activity and your user profile but it should restore the watch to it's out of the box state.
  • Thanks, I had removed the fitness app because I have no need for it.
Probably that triggered to remove the run profile.

    Thanks a lot!
