Watch seems locked

I charged my watch this morning, unplugged, and went to the Y. I noticed 6 minutes into a run that it didn't start. All subsequent attempts at getting it to start failed. I can switch between screens and activities, but I can't start an activity. I also can't turn it off, and I can't do a hard reset. Any suggestions?

I should add, I plugged it back in to the computer, but the computer did not recognize that it was plugged it, however it still charged. It is counting my steps and measuring my heartrate.

Thank you.
  • I've had similar issues before. Can you hold the power button for an extended period of time (30-60 seconds) to see if it powers down?

Are you using a ConnectIQ app or datafield that might potentially cause blocking with the latest release? Test my selecting another profile (other/cycling) or whatever that you've not modified to use anything other than standard data fields.

I had a ConnectIQ watch face that totally blocked my ability to do ANYTHING with the latest 7.10 update.
  • I had my 235 lock up after the latest update.

Good news is that a hard reset solved the problem. To do this hold the top left button down until the watch turns off, then wait a few seconds and hold down the top left button until the Garmin symbol appears and the watch powers up completely. I also had to do this after the 6.30 upgrade so a full reset appears to have become part of the update process even if Garmin hasn't stated specifically it's required.
  • I've had my watch freeze the other day after unplugging it from the USB port when charging.

The screen kept showing the charging logo and 100%, buttons did not respond and had to do the hard reset to get the watch working again.

But in doing this I lost all my step and sleep data for that day/night.

This is a great watch when it's working properly :-/
