New Forerunner 235 buyer afraid of the reliability of the Watch (Time and Date)

Hello Garmin Community,

I'm a new Member and I want to say hello to you.

I'm using Sports Watches since 15 years ago and beside a TomTom Spark I bought last week a Forerunner 235 which should also be not only my Sport Watch rather also than my daily watch.
I really like the design of it.

On friday something happened which makes me a little bit uncertain and I hope this isn't a normal behavior which I have to live with it.

I was in work and so happy that the time passed so quickly. I packed my stuff until someone asked me, why I'm leaving so early. I told my collegue If he doesn't know what time is it and showed
him my watch and he started to laugh .... you know what happened ....

To cut a long story short ... the watch showed the wrong time (and I didn't noticed, also the wrong date).

I was searching here for People asking the same question and found out, that possible the problem could be using the watch in usage with watchfaces (I'm using ActiFace).

I'm not sure if this could be the real problem or is something other faulty? I really have to rely on my watch as you hopefully understand. Because to show the time and date should be really a main or basic function without any failure.

Is it a known bug or a special feature or only bad luck and thats it?
  • I was updating the software a few days ago and not shortly before the wrong time indication happened. I also arrived at the office in the morning after a bicycle ride, and the problem occurred a few hours later.

You tell me, that I have to leave the office every few hours to avoid that it may happend again? What a joke.

No, you should not have to do that. I can count on one hand the number of times this has happened in the 10 months I've had my watch (5 or less), but it does happen occasionally for various reasons already discussed in earlier responses. What you describe (resetting in the middle of an activity) is either a strange occurrence or you have a faulty watch, but I wouldn't get too excited just yet after it happening only twice. Restoring the date/time is a simple/quick procedure via GPS. If you continue to lose date/time regularly, then I would contact Garmin support ... if not, then it was probably an anomaly.
