Hello Garmin Forum - bluetooth connection issues

Hello to everyone.
First, I want to thank every one of you that posts your experiences and try to answer to others problems. You are very helpful.
Second, I wanted to post my experience with fr235 (bought in june) with a summary of what I experienced in terms of battery - hr - various known issues (cadence lock and no-map): but i'm not so good in English and it would have been take some time... maybe i'll post in the various specific topics like the battery usage....

But in the meantime: I've not upgraded from 5.40 to 6.10-20-30 because of all the issues (death of hr or updating loop) reported here...

I've managed to stop the upgrade from passing to the watch until I plugged into my standard-windows desktop pc with garmin express (until now I was able to stop it, using web-connect and linux-computer )... so now the upgrade is on the watch waiting to be started and I don't know if it is causing problems or not...

Meanwhile other upgrades: my phone upgraded android from 5.02 to 6.0 - connect app upgrade added some livetrack features ...

After all of this the watch and connect app are not connecting properlyor syncing - if not for short periods after 5-10 minutes.

I'm good to not syncing it because i don't use notifications, and was only doing it to see my activity right after finishing it... but if it is fixable... it would be better...

thanks in advance, bye
  • well... ok... i guess that expecting answers was too much considering my problem... what can you say to me? "update your watch and thrown it in the garbage" is not a solution ... heh...

i see that garmin pushed out yet another useless update without dealing with all the problems that the last 3 update caused... ok... but... is garmin paying someone to find a solution or is just waiting to see if some user find it?
  • Well, in general, it is always best to run the latest version of the watch firmware and mobile app. Otherwise how do you do know if an update provides a "solution" to your problems or indeed is "useless".

If you have persistent connection problems, it can be best just to remove the connection and start again.
  • As you say, in general, keeping up with the updates is the best... but then you come here and read some of the things that happened to who did the updates and it's not good to know that if i update it can break the watch...

So yes i can't tell if the updates could be useful to my issue or not...

But as for the connection issues i can't tell what the hell is happening... today the bluetooth connection seems to stay on (when it picked up after some time) but it won't sync anything exept the steps... so... connected to the pc and doing it now I see that for some reason the time-zone map update that i was delaying went in withouth me noticing on the 6th, and for the remaining part of that day, the sleep-track of the night, and the 7th there is no graphical data (but the step count and an activity that i did are there...)

and also, i noticed that the graphs of the HR in garmin-connect-app are changed (and retroactively too)... now it seems that there is a hr-value every 4 minutes...

anyway... bye for now.. i'll keep reading hoping to see less broken watches, so that i can update.
