Is it possible to reimport data into the watch after a reset ?

Hi !

Today, I had to reset my watch for the first time since had it because it bugged on me (could not switch it off or start a new activity). I had not realised that doing that wiped everything from the watch.

I managed to synch the watch to my GC account and recovered my settings (HR zones, height, weight....) but the VO2max I had reached has disappeared (among other things).

Is it possible to reload my current VO2max into the watch ?

If not.....is there any way to save all this data (by copying the folders from the Garmin folder on the computer) and reload it in case a factory reset was necessary ?

Thanks a lot.
Jay
  • Hi !

What happens if you save all the folders present on the "USB mass storage" when you connect the watch to a PC via USB and then put the data back on the watch if something "happens" ?

    Cheers

  • What happens
You restore some of the information, which does not include your VO2Max.
  • VO2 Max is stored as a user setting within Garmin Connect. Do you not see it by clicking on Head and Shoulders>Settings>User Settings?

If not you should be able to update it there and it should then sync across to your watch. Whether you get the pretty graphic is a different matter.

With all settings, Garmin Connect is the master and all other services (such as Garmin Connect Mobile) get their information from there. So, if Garmin Connect is correct, everywhere else should be also.

My understanding is that, unlike weight and gender (found under My‑Stats»User‑Profile on the FR230/235) which get synced to the watch if you make and save changes in Garmin Connect, updating of VO2Max only goes one-way from watch to Garmin Connect. In fact, I just manually lowered my VO2Max (for running) number in Garmin Connect, and then after syncing my FR235 still shows what was recorded by the watch from my last run.
