When i turn on the HR to 'auto' its like the LED's never turn off. It drains my battery completely in less that 24 hours. I have tried factory reset, clear user data and some other stuff with no fix. The HR works though, but i cant have it turned on during all day activity tracking which is kind of annoying.
For me this issue has been here since 5.40 i think. Im right now on 6.30 with this battery drain issue.
Unless you are EXTREMELY active, as in not stopping for even one minute. Garmin won't post their "polling" algorithm or even a description of the function, probably because they consider in proprietary. However the HRM is supposed to turn itself off when the software determines it doesn't need to be on. Exceptions to this are in fitness applications like Run, then I believe that it goes into continuous mode unless you are wearing a chest monitor.
Note, using a chest monitor will turn the wrist HRM off when you start a fitness application and keep it off. So one way to test the auto off function of the HRM is to use the chest monitor. I'll also tell you the chest monitor is usually a lot more accurate for activities with a lot of arm motion. I will also tell you that when you are wearing the chest monitor the wrist monitor will still operate when you don't have a Fitness or the Heart Rate application running. I can also tell you that if you are wearing a chest monitor when you first turn on the Heart Rate widget you will see your heart rate being determined by the wrist monitor then after 5 seconds or so it will cycle over to the chest monitor and you'll see the symbol at the top left change. You'll also see the wrist monitor switch OFF when the chest monitor indicator is showing in the widget. Basically the Wrist Monitor is the default device when you are wearing a chest monitor unless you actively trigger the use of the chest monitor by selecting a fitness application or switch on the heart rate widget. I'll also note the wrist monitor will turn off after 5 or 10 seconds when you put the watch on charge or connect it to your computer.
If your watch isn't behaving as I've described I would suggest that you contact Gamin Customer Service. Because it's very possible you have a defective watch.
till now, the sensor wents off after some time, and on if pressed down button or if i get some movement, (also at an interval of time) but it went off again.
One suggestion that may resolve this problem is to try turning the watch OFF and then ON again. Many times problems like this can be "fixed" by "re-booting" the device. If that doesn't solve your problem then your next step should be to contact Garmin. About a year ago I had issues with a chest monitor that quit working and Garmin's response was to put a new one in the mail. Now, since there is a rather large cost difference between the 235 and the chest monitor, I would expect they'll want you to send yours in but I also expect that you'll find Garmin will simply replace your current watch with a new one.
