Where are the Garmin Analog Watch Faces for the "Flat Tyre" screen watches?

I'm feeling a bit duped.

After finding out that only Garmin Watch Faces can have a second display that carries on all the time... I now find out that for the screen form on the 230/235/630/735XT , they only make three analog watch faces, two of which are stupid chinese themed ones, and none of which have a second hand!
  • With all Connect IQ watchfaces, they can at most display the seconds only for about 10 seconds after a wrist gesture. (some just never display the seconds)

The rest of the time the firmware only allows the watchface to be updated once per minute, so no seconds.

I'm sure there are more than 3 analog watchfaces. There's even one that I did (my sig is a link to my apps). I see about 10 on just the first page of watchfaces for the 235 in the app store.

  • Hi Jim,

What I should have said was Analog Watch Faces coded by Garmin themselves.

There are loads for the Fenix 3, but exactly three for the 235 (and others with the same screen)

Chinese Pattern (the whole background changes colour as you approach your step goal, no thank you)
Mahjong (just a stupid novelty item, no better than the Panda clock, wth)
Fitness (with the Analog watch face taking up only a third of the screen)

    None have second hands.

The very very fine 3rd party developers will regularly post on their product pages, exasperated, "please don't give this watch face a low rating because the second hand disappears, that's a limitation of the Connect IQ APIs, only Garmins own watch faces can have a second hand that stays on screen".

If it's a Connect IQ watchface (apps.garmin.com), you'll likely find better watchfaces done by 3rd party developers. Both Garmin and 3rd party folks have access to the exact same functions and can do the same things.

It seems to me some of the stuff that's done by "Garmin" seems to be interns and new hires, and really isn't that great. (I've been one of the 3rd party developers for about 18 months now....)

Don't discount any of the non-Garmin Connect IQ apps/watchfaces. You'll be discounting LOTS of good things! (When you go to the app store, you'll notice that you don't see many "Garmin written" things near the top of "most popular" when it comes to downloads and reviews...)
  • So the true statement is only the built in watch faces that are part of the firmware are capable of always on seconds.

And since the single built in watch face on the 235, "Digital" seems to be there just so the device bearly qualifies as a watch for import tax purposes, no one uses it.

I've picked a couple of Connect IQ faces that I'm very happy with.
