Lowest resting heartrate

My resting heartrate seems to be getting lower by a few bpm every month. It can vary as much as 10 bpm day to day depending on fatigue, illness, etc. This month I seem to be bottoming out at 30 bpm. I have always believed the sensor to be accurate for RHR based on past comparisons with other monitors. I'm wondering if my pulse might be getting even lower and/or if the optical hr sensor has a lower limit. Has anyone seen a legit hr reading below 30bpm?

*Yes I know that is extremely low. I run 2 hr half marathons so I am not elite by any means. I must either have some kind of bradycardia or lucky genetics.
  • I assume you've checked your pulse using the old 2 fingers on the wrist method just to verify? I've not been below 30, but in the 30s when distance training for an event. Always threw the physician for a loop when getting a checkup. I was even banned from donating blood. But as you say, possible bradycardia. Should always check with a doctor to make sure it isn't something serious.
  • I usually check it against the hrm on my Samsung Galaxy S7 if I have a doubt, and yes also the old fashioned way with a timer. I have never actually caught it right at 30 while checking, usually I get out of bed or off the couch and check and notice that I hit 30 while I was resting or sitting.
I do have past history of A-Fib and SVT so I pay close attention to my heart; for now my Dr. doesn't seem too concerned if I have no other symptoms.
  • AFAIK 30 bpm is the lowest value it will take for RHR.

Equally, when I see that for myself, I am fairly sure it is not correct.
  • Very low resting heart rates can by a symptom of some rather serious heart problems, so anyone with a resting heart rate below about 35 should be consulting with a Cardiologist, not a family doctor. The problem is that this can be an indicator of Over Training to an extent that the heart is permanently damaged.
  • My heart rate is below 30 but Garmin reads a pulse below 30 but does not record it and you cannot see it on the graph.

The minimum pulse on the graph is 30 and when it goes below 30 it remains blank.

It would be good to have readings below 30, I believe I am not the only one.
