forerunner 235 floors counting

Good morning,
till yesterday I was using a Garmin Vivosmart HR as "all day" watch and I was adding when running an old Garmin Forerunner 210 to have gps and so on.
Then I took the decision to buy a new sportwatch with everything i need in just 1 element and I decided to buy the forerunner 235, also to improve GPS velocity and accuracy. I didn't use it very much yet (I have it just from yesterday) but I found something strange. I didn't look deeply before buying it at which "activity" features were included (like pass counting, floor counting and so on), i thought that in a 300 euro watch all those features should be included.
Now i don't find the floor counting. That's strange, it is not a so important feature for me, but it was funny to try to go upstairs to reach the goal as the vivosmart was asking. I don't know if it is a software problem and if I can download some widget to count these floors or if the pressure sensor which give these data is not fisically installed inside the Forerunner.

Thank you for your help

Emanuele
  • Unfortunately there's no floor counting on the 230/235 watches.
I don't know if there's any app (for 230/235) that would do that.
  • The only watches that do floor counting have a baro altimeter (that's how it can see the change in elevation). Watches like the 23x/630/735 use GPS for elevation and not a baro.

This is not really good news. It seems strange to me that a very expensive watch does not have this baro altimeter which is present in a sport watch costing half price.
In any case it doesn't matter, I can count the floors by my self :-D

    Thanks
    bye
