Pace alerts

Is there a way to set up pace alerts to let me know if Im going above or below my desired pace range?

Im doing a lot of long runs for marathon training and worry more about going out too fast and running out of steam so a friendly reminder to check my pace would be nice.
  • careful!

it uses instant pace... so it can jump around a lot... constantly beeping!

be very generous in your range... and/or... I'd advise against it....hah

HR is a bit more stable - so might be a better/consistent alert

Thanks, Ill try it out on my longer run this weekend.

I worry that if its vibrating too often that it will kill the battery during a marathon.
  • I had a error in my alert for a 8mile trail race this spring. So it was almost constantly vibrating - didn't make a significant dent in battery that I recall. Granted it was only like an hour run....

The alerts for pace or HR would be very good to test on your training runs (wouldn't advise a long run 'test'... it gets annoying when pace is constantly dipping/rising...)

give it a shot on a short run... lol
  • I wish they'd give us the Virtual Pacer like on the FR10. One alert when you fall outside 5, or so, seconds faster or slower than the goal pace and then leaves you alone with just Ahead of Pace, or Behind Pace on the screen.

Just set up a workout and Garmin connect with your desired pace range. The watch will alert you whem the average pace for each mile or km is outside range. It wokrs much better for me than the normal pace alerts. You don't even have to setup a distance
Just setup Run until Lap button press and specify your pace range.
