When to delete activity history on watch?

I've had my 230 for several months and it meets my needs well. I am curious about activity storage as those just seem to keep adding up on the device. Does the 230 remove older files when it needs more space, or should one proactively delete the history at some interval? Curious how others are approaching this as I'd hate to start "the big race" only to find I've run out of storage room.

  • Page 6 of the owner's manual has the information you need. That being said, over the years with Garmin devices I've found it prudent to keep the minimum number of activities on the device, removing them after they've been uploaded to Garmin Connect.
  • Thanks - I missed that and only found how to delete.

From the user manual: "Note: when the device memory is full, your oldest data is overwritten" (beginning of section on History)

I've never deleted old data from this (or other Garmin) devices, except when selling them... and I never ended up with a problem dealing with storage limitations.
