Heart Rate Monitor stopped working; update to WHR 2.7 fixed problem

I stupidly updated the software on my brand new Forerunner 235 on the second day I owned it, and the heart rate monitor completely stopped working (no lights at all on the back). After reading lots of threads on this board, I checked the Software Version info and learned that I had WHR: 2.50 (0.00.00). After more reading, I tried to update using Garmin Express, but that did not work! Garmin Express told me my software was all up to date! I even installed Garmin Webupdater on my computer, but it also failed to update the WHR. While checking the software details on my watch so I could send the info in to Garmin, I noticed that the watch is notifying me of another update. I was hesitant to try another update directly from the watch, but had nothing to lose, so I did it, and now I have WHR 2.70 (10.02.21) and...

The heart rate monitor lights are back on and I have heart rate readings again!!!

I'm just posting for anyone out there who may be having the same problem I had.

How do I check my version? Can I do that on the app?

How do I check my version? Can I do that on the app?

The app will show you if you did a workout with the current version (just on the workout page itself showing the details).

Otherwise, you can go into the menu on the watch, go to settings, system, then "About". It will show you the main software version on the first screen, then tap the little down arrow to scroll through the versions of the rest of the stuff like heart rate monitor, etc.
