No map when run is uploaded

I uploaded a run to GC today using both my phone and by connecting it to my mac. On both occasions the map is missing. I definitely had GPS and GLONASS turned on. There must have been GPS data recorded because the elevation data is there. I also tried to upload the .fit file and got the same result. Does anyone know what has happened here?

    Power cycle?

Sounds like the issue I had a week ago - my last couple of runs did not display the map in GC Mobile of GC web version, and when exporting the data from the website there was no GPS data in there. I had to reboot the watch, and subsequent runs have produced maps (and, I would assume, GPS data if I were to export the run to file). I still got lap times (as well as other non-GPS related data like HR) though, no idea how that is stored.

I had the same issue yesterday as well. The run activity I did had no GPS data. However, elevation was still somehow recorded. Restarting the watch seems to have fixed the issue. Never had this issue before. First time it happened. One thing I did though, prior to the run yesterday, was update my Garmin Connect android app to the latest version that was available yesterday. My watch is synced to the app via bluetooth all day long. I'm not sure if some syncing issue occurred between the app and watch, prior to the run, that screwed up the way activities were recorded on the watch.

Same here. Yesterday, after my run (that was recorded normally) I connected my 235 to Garmin Express on my computer and updated it when prompted. Today, no GPS data seems to have been imported with the run. However, it was definitely connected to GPS while I was running. Splits were basically spot on and the distance it recorded was consistent with my experience to within about 15 or 25 feet over the course of five miles. It also recorded elevation, as others have mentioned. This is super disappointing, as I haven't had any issues with the 235 thus far. Fortunately this was just a normal training run and the rest of the data appears accurate.
  • Same thing happened to me today and the resulting transfer to Strava came across as a treadmill run. I also wasn't getting any audio or vibration alerts on laps but I see there's a sticky addressing that up top.

yes same problem here. Fixed after reboot. Any way we can try and force a re-sync for that run?

mmmm really wierd as mine did the same last night too, i was showing distance on my run but its a regular route and the km markers were out? when i uploaded also had no map data at all. went to record bike to work this morning and stayed at zero distance even though speed etc was working. hopefully turn off n on will fix it
  • Same for me too. Yesterday and then again today. Just rebooted so hopefully OK now

I tired to force the re-sync but deleting the session and then manualy upload the activity file, but this doesnt resolve the problem I still dont have my map.
  • I had this yesterday as well, everything seemed recorded but no map, neither in the export to Strava or other sites. Went for run today and back to normal, hick-up on server ?

We appreciate the discussion on this topic. This is an issue that has previously been reported and has been escalated to the device team for further investigation.

A workaround for this is to power cycle the device. After powering the watch off and then back on normally all of the GPS data is stored correctly in the .fit file once more.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and the device team is working to determine the root cause so that this can be prevented from occurring
