Heart rate gauge zones mismatch

I seem to have an issue where the heart rate gauge page seems to use different zones to those I have configured in my profile.

e.g. My Z1/grey/warm-up zone is 115-151 bpm, but if I am at 148 bpm the gauge shows Z2/blue/easy. In the same run I was using a workout with HR target zones and so the additional workout data page was active, and it showed 148 bpm as 1.8 (or similar, not 2.x). For data page 1 I was using a Connect IQ multi-field data field, which uses my Garmin Connect heart rate zones, and it was also correctly showing 148 bpm as Z1/grey.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is the heart rate gauge using fixed zones, or is it using a different profile? In Garmin Connect, I have customized the running zones, but left the cycling and other(/default?) zones as default. I wonder if the gauge is using the 'other/default' zones? I have now set those to match my running zones but will have to wait for another run to test this. Regardless, I would've thought that the gauge should use my customized running zones.

N.B. I'm using beta firmware, version 5.07. Just got the watch, didn't test this on 4.70.

Zone 1 is 115 to 151 bpm? What do you have as your max heartrate and the other zones?

    Max: 196
    Resting: 48
    LT: 178

    Z1: 115–151
    Z2: 151–161
    Z3: 161–173
    Z4: 173–182
    Z5: 182–196

Cycling zones (and other/default before I changed it to match running, above) based on default 10% increments in HRR:

    Z1: 121–136
    Z2: 136–151
    Z3: 151–166
    Z4: 166–181
    Z5: 181–196
  • Quick update: after changing the 'other /default' zones in Garmin Connect to match the running ones, the gauge now looks correct on the watch.
The zones on the watch (there only seems to be one type viewable) look correct too.

    This just leaves two questions:

    1. What will happen during cycling? I left the cycling zones on GC as default, so they are different from the running and other/default zones.

    2. If the watch only uses the default/other zones from GC, what is the point of setting separate zones for running and cycling? Send like they won't be used on the watch.
