Map of run not loading

Hi all,

im having an issue with my 230 that i hope someone may have previously heard of and resolved. For the past month or so all of my activities seem to have not recorded the GPS map so that when i upload to Garmin/Strava there are no maps with my runs. I always wait for the "GPS ready" message to appear before starting an activity and save the activity at the end. My runs are always outdoors so i select that profile when starting a new activity.

I'm not sure if it could possibly because my software isn't up to date or if i have accidentally played round with the GPS settings in the watch itself perhaps?

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated :)

Thank you,

Adam
  • First obvious sign to whether the GPS is providing data or not: do you have pace/speed/distance data visible on the watch during your runs? If yes, then at least the GPS is working correctly; if no, then either you deactivated the GPS (Menu>Activity Settings>GPS), or you have a hardware failure. If you *are* getting pace/speed/distance data, check if you can look at the data for past activities on the watch itself (Menu>History>Activities, pick one, select Laps, for example). If there is data there, it means the watch is recording properly; the next possible problem is in sync to Garmin Connect. In Connect, do you see your runs (other than the map)? Do you see summary info, distance, laps, etc?

I had the same issue. I just turned the watch off and back on and it seemed to reset itself and when future activities downloaded the map appeared.
  • This was fixed in the last software release.

First time in year and a half of owning FR230 this same problem appeared on me. Making things worse, not only the map for the current run is not showing on Garmin Connect, but maps of all of the previous activities as well (and they were good last time I checked yesterday). This same activity synchronized to Endomondo is displayed as expected: with map, pace HR and altitude graphs. Therefore I consider there's definitely something wrong on Garmin Connect end.
I've rebooted the watch and the phone just in case, we'll see what'll happen next.
  • I'm having the same issue so suspect this a problem at Garmin's end.
  • Is it fixed now?

Many people posted about same/similar issue a few days back. Are you still experiencing the issue? It has cleared up for me.

For me this issue has gone on the next day I reported it. After that I noticed that there's now additional options on map frame in activity view on Garmin Connect, so they must have pushed update to their servers by that time resulting in map display errors. I remember having problems with their web services before (e.g. at IQ market when new user review interface was introduced), but these kind of problems can be fixed on the fly by clearing browser cache, since cached scripts may contradict with their actual server side counterparts.

This issue exists on my 630. I contacted Garmin and bottom line is they told me to go to factory default
