Cannot charge from normal charger

I've found that I can only charge my new 230 using a USB port on an actual computer. If I plug the charge cable into, say, a phone charger, the 230 doesn't go into charging mode. Is this expected, or a known problem?

The 230 is running 4.7 firmware.

That's actually by design. This way you can actually charge will doing something like recording a run.

If you have a watchface that shows battery level, you'll see it going up while charging.
  • no, that's not normal. It is the same with more that one phone charger (because it could always be the phone charger that's at fault). If it is then I would try a hard reset on the watch to see if that helps.

  • This might be a duplicate post, but with CIQ watchfaces and apps it is normal.

Basically, they don't know it's charging, as the native apps do, so other than the battery level going up, you don't see it's charging. I do have code in a few things that monitor the battery level and look for it going up to to indicate charging, but that's not a common thing to do in the code.

CW - I'm thinking CIQ watchfaces and I'm guessing you're thinking native. Detecting "charging status" in CIQ has been requested anumber of times, but it's not a standard thing yet
  • Yes Jim, you're right, I assumed he was using the native clock but your explanation sounds right!

  • Turns out that Jim is spot on. I'm using a CIQ watchface and, indeed, if I'm patient I can see the battery percentage tick up with a phone charger. Thanks for explaining that.
