Hi

I will note some of my experience with Firmware ver 5.04 Beta
1. Installation – No issues
2. Cosmetically (watch face, screens) same
3. Whatsapps notification – (text inverted)Fixed from ver 4.70 and 5.03 Beta
4. Heart rate monitor lock (time it takes the watch to lock onto your heart rate, any screen. I was seated)
– Did about 20 test and average lock time is 25 sec. Much better than ver 4.70
* Update 07 July - went on my first run today, couldn't get a HR lock after 2 min of waiting on the Run HR screen. A Quick reboot and 20sec HR lock.
5. Cadence lock
* Update 07 July - went on my first run today, no cadence lock detected.Although my HR and cadence values was not close. e.g HR 140 vs Cadence 167 spm. Maybe getting the values close would be a good test.
6. GPS Fix – within 5~10 Sec - same as always..pretty quick
7. Watch speed between menu – minimal improvement detected
8. Battery life – Not fully tested
* Update 07 July - At what percentage does the "Low Battery" alert get displayed?
9. Sync with phone – Working as it should…not fully test

    frustrating

That Beta update fixed nothing for me,
Resting HR is still completly of, and i still got no HR when i start my activities, still taks up to 5 min until i get a HR lock.

    Same here... I can't belive that a pulse-machine doesn't show pulse :S
  • I originally thought the HRM initial lock for an activity issue was getting better, but I'm not so sure. I've had several back to back activities where I struggled to get an initial lock, even doing all the workarounds. The odd thing is, it seems to lock once I start the activity.

On Sunday I had a 15k race, so I tried to get the HRM lock 15 minutes in advance of starting time, but I could not get it to lock. I rebooted the watch, turned the HRM off/on, messed with the heart rate widget; Nothing I did worked. Five minutes before the start of the race, I gave up and allowed it to try to lock while I waited; It never did. I finally started the race without the heart rate lock and it locked on a few seconds into the run, however I'm not so sure it was locked onto my actual heart rate. It was very erratic and I had cadence lock issues.

Another note, I still can't get accurate heart rate readings when using my stationary bike. It seems like it locks on my bike cadence, even if I re-position my arm or leave my arm completely loose.. very odd. I've attached an image from my bike workout last night, which was a very easy effort to loosen up my legs. I took my heart rate a few times manually, and it was always below 120.

  • I liked the cosmetic changes in 5.0x (heartrate symbol colored red for example) but it seems it messed up the dwmap app...

When launching the app it crashed a lot, making me relink my watch again and again and in the end it instant rebooted my watch when launching it. Also after removing and resyncing it. Also had Hike!, RHR Log and Stopwatch app but those had no issues.

Tried reverting back to 4.70 and that seems to have fixed it. Might upgrade to 5.04 again now that it's working to see if it really was the fw...

    5.07

So far getting a 10-15 second hr lock in 5.07.
On activity screen you now get a "wrist heart rate ready" notification upon hr lock. Nice!
4 hour update: Seems to have less spikes. Only one short one of 128bpm in 4 hours. Haven't been very active today though. Time will tell.
6 hour update: 130 spike in GC but only 115 on watch widget.
"Several improvements to optical heart rate."

    Ominous :D
  • Ight, will try it again. With the previous 5.0x betas I couldn't get dwmap working properly (instant crashes, also had to relink agian and again) so hopefully this will be fixed.

the 5.07 beta seems to be way less spikey and so far the HR lock got faster,

    please try this mode:
1 make a personal workout ending with a averahe high heart rate (like 170 bpm or so)
2 when finished keep running and press the "go on" button
3 keep running not too fast

with actual firmware on the 235 the HRM starts to register bpm too elevate (190/200 bpm or so in some cases): please do not report this behaviour on the firmware 5 too
