Optical HRM not working, WHR version 0.00 ??

Hi, the other day the optical HRM on my 235 stopped working. I suspect it was after an auto update. With HRM set to auto I get no "all day heart rate", and when I hit run the heart icon flashes and it fails to pick up my HR.

I have updated everything to the latest version using both Garmin Express and WebUpdater without any change. I have installed SesnorHub to no effect. I have restored defaults - no joy. I think it is a software/firmware issue as the version for WHR is 0.00.

Haven't seen a WHR version 0.00 before, though.

Previously have heard of GPS going to 0.00 when that component is missing/corrupt and/or the relevant hardware is broken.

Sounds like this has happened to your WHR component. I would contact Garmin support as I suspect you may need to get a replacement device.

I spoke to Garmin support and have been advised to send the watch back for replacement.

Had the same issue 3 days ago, no green lights and whr version 0.00. I called the Garmin support today and they told me to send them the watch for a replacement.

Then as last attempt, decided to do a hard reset, then install the 5.04 beta firmware and the heart rate sensor came back to life!

Seems to be working fine now, crossing fingers!

Can you share how to do a hard reset and install the 5.04 firmware? I updated the software on my brand new Forerunner 235 (and now regret it) and afterwards, the HR sensors have stopped working. When checking WHR version is 2.50 (0.00.00) The software version is 5.2 (612d812).

Nevermind... while Garmin Express would not update the WHR on my watch, I did the update through the watch settings after it said I had one waiting, and now I have WHR 2.70 and the HR sensors are lit up and I have a HR again!
