Widgets being somehow replaced by watch faces?

I thought I'd seen strange behaviour on the Forerunner‑235, but this takes the cake. This is what I discovered when I went to check my heart rate in the Heart Rate widget this morning:

Countdown! watch face

SC8 watch face

Countdown! watch face

Weather widget

Controls widget

Notifications widget

Countdown! watch face

Checking in the Garmin Connect Mobile app for Android, I see:

The Heart Rate widget and Calendar widget (which should be at the top of the list) have somehow been uninstalled, the VIRB widget has been mysteriously re-installed(?) but does not appear when I cycle through the widgets on the watch, and neither does the Simplicity: Roman watch face.

When I go into the Clock Options to check whether the Simplicity: Roman watch face remains installed, I see it's still selectable, but when I select it, I get the factory Digital watch face instead.

I've no idea when all this happened, since I haven't had occasion to want to check the Heart Rate widget for days. I'm still running firmware version 4.60.

I've had this issue happen on me twice within the pass few months. Widgets were missing and watch faces showed up as widgets instead as you mentioned. Each time it happen, I think it was due to a sync issue after reordering widgets from the Garmin Connect mobile app. I fix the issue by connecting the watch to my Windows computer and syncing it using the Garmin Express software. After syncing, the default Garmin widgets that went missing were reinstall back. Any other ConnectIQ widgets that went missing may need to be reinstalled again.
  • Thanks for sharing your experience. I haven't reordered the widgets in several weeks leading up to the issue, though. As for fixing it, it was easy enough; I manually ‘uninstalled’ and then reinstalled the widgets that I expected to see. I've had Connect‑IQ watch faces being somehow ‘replaced’ by Digital before (perhaps that's just a case of the FR235 picking the default if the selected watch face is somehow ‘broken’ at the time), but getting widgets mixed up with watch faces was a first.
