Optical HR Not reading

Hi,

Just purchased a 235 and I can't seem to get the optical sensor to pick up my heart rate. The heart icon continuously blinks in the widget screen, main page, and I cannot get a BPM in run mode. Oddly enough, it still reads my heart rate in the widget (albeit slow) despite the blinking. All software looks to be updated and I have tried wiping the sensor and my arm down. Is this a defective product or am I just missing something?

Mine also isn't picking up my HR at all. Tried the turn off, hard reset and turn back on but it didn't work :'(
  • Mine has gone off one or twice in the last month. I have disconnected the device from my phone and then added it again, and also turned the HR off in Settings, then back on again. That sorts it for me.

This thing is such a pos! I've wasted enough time trying to figure this out. You would think that the main attraction of this device would work for the money that you pay. Guess not. Seems like many others are having the same issues. This is going back to the manufacturer. Ill go back to my tom tom. Not as many bells and whistles but at least the thing works!

Mine stops working for once. Then I set the HR monitor to off, after a reset (Press power button for 15 seconds to turn it off; then press it for 1 second to turn it on), set it on, and it starts to picking up HR reading

HR not working in any acticity mode

Any other ideas? So frustrated, can't get HR to work in any activity. I have tried to disable and do the hard reset without any luck.

Try this workaround: wear watch on your arm, go to Settings -> Heart rate monitor -> Turn off HR
Wait a minute and turn it on. Then go to HR monitor (by pressing on a button from left side), wait until it stabilised and then, go to Run mode. It should work now.
At least, it for me for the last 3 activities and tests that I've made.
