Strollers and step counts

I took my sisters little guy for a 3 mile run in his jogging stroller. My step count only advanced about 200 steps. Is this normal when pushing a stroller? I don't normally push a stroller, my kids are big. The gps worked fine an recorded the whole 3 mile run. I just want to be sure it's not broke. It's never given me any problems before.
  • That's common with all wrist based trackers (you may see the same thing when pushing a shopping cart). The watch only sees what your wrist sees, and may not see the steps when you are pushing something. You could try putting the watch in your pocket next time.

I run into the same issue. I just push the stroller with one hand unless I feel I need both hands (going up a hill, etc.)
  • When I use my push lawnmower, I've gotten pretty good at doing it with just one hand. Don't want to lose those steps! :-)
  • When I use my push lawnmower,
If you were wearing the current multi-sport watch from a competitor (whose name begins with T), the vibrations from the lawnmower alone would add several thousand steps to its 24×7 activity tracking record, even if you were just mowing your front yard! :p I'm really glad the FR235 is not nearly as prone to vibration-induced false positives.
  • When running with a jogging pram my watch does seem to detect my cadence (haven't actually checked the steps since I don't use that feature). It may be due to a more pronounced movement when running compared to walking.

My son will be exactly 3 when my second is born. My son doesn't ever use a stroller anymore, but from time to time, like a big theme park or zoo trip, we may bring it. We are looking into getting an umbrella stroller for him and we have the travel system for the new baby. Should I be looking into a double stroller instead? My son wouldn't use the stroller all of the time like the baby would, but there could potentially be times where he would. So, I wouldn't want 2 strollers. What did you go with your kids being around the same age difference?
