HRM won't turn back on

Hi

I was going through all the options on the 235 and turned the HRM from Auto to Off.
It now won't turn back to Auto, am I possibly doing something wrong?

Could a hard reset fix it?

At least a reset seems worth a try before contacting Garmin Support.

Do you mean you turned the device off (using a menu selection on the watch) and back on, without actually proceeding with a hard reset, which is different again from restoring factory defaults?

Care to explain what a "hard reset" is?

The reset I know is to keep pressing the power button (upper-left one) for 15 seconds or so until it goes black. Then press the power button 1 second and turn it on. Is that considered a "hard-reset" or "soft-reset"?
