How to stop Forerunner 235 timer automatically when set distance is reached?

I just got a new Forerunner 235 and was wondering, is there a way that I can specify I want to do a 5km run, and when I've reached that distance, it automatically stops my activity?

I have just done a run using the 'Finish Time' set to 5km which I found really useful to see, as I went, what I was going to finish in etc, but noticed that the timer / activity didn't stop when I reached that distance, so am hoping there is another way of accomplishing this?

Thanks
  • The timer stops automatically for custom workouts once all steps have been completed

Create a custom workout (in Garmin Connect online) with just one Run step for 5km, send it to your FR235, then use it (under My Workouts, which you can reach by pressing Select·Down·Down·Select·Select from the watch face) on your watch.

Great, thanks for the detailed reply. I'll give that a try.
