HR metrics not showing up in run activity on Connect

I just purchased a 235 and did my first run today. I checked on Connect and I can't find a data field in the run activity summary for HR. I am also linked to Strava and it didn't pull any of the HR data from the run over either. I see the HR spike for the run on the HR widget on the 235, but that's only place it appears to be captured. There's no HR info on the run summary on the watch either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Same issue

I'm having exactly the same issue. I sent an email to Garmin Customer Service today and received an automatic reply that someone would get back to me in 3 days.

    @ mayonayze and dwj444,

What is the software version and Sensor Hub that you are currently running on the watch? You can check this by accessing the Menu>Settings>System>About. You will see the software version listed and the Sensor Hub is reported as WHR.

Thank you for the information. Not seeing heart rate during a run coming from the WHR sensor is something that we are continuing to investigate. Now that the software is up to date we recommend that you keep an eye on the heart rate during your next run, and post back if it is still missing from your account. One thing that is recommended is going to the Heart Rate widget and allowing it to lock on to your heart rate prior to starting the timer. This how shown to give users the heart rate data during the activity.
  • This may be useless, but, did you pair the HRM to the watch?

The 235 has an optical HRM built in; I assumed it not need be paired, but if it does require that action then that could be the problem. Nothing in the manual about pairing the optical HRM that I could locate.

As long as the wrist heart rate sensor is turned on and you can see the green lights on the back of the watch, you don't have to worry about pairing an HRM (unless using an external strap).

Rode the bike today and it appears that waiting for the heart icon to stop blinking allows the watch to capture HR data within the activity.
