Bought VAHR at REI last week. FR235 went on sale for same price. Bought it yesterday. I'm 52 years old, 5'9", about 35 lbs overweight at 195, so not much of a runner. This is a slow run for this newb. I have 6.75" wrists.
FR235 on left wrist, GPS only. GLONASS off. VAHR on right wrist, smart recording. I warmed up before starting activities on both. Wore wrist band above each watch to lessen sweat. Wore each watch snug--1 or two holes tighter than usual. My area is not challenging. Wide open sky, nothing larger than 2 story houses, and no tree obstruction in path.
I note with these that the VAHR tracked my path with less offset and generally better than the FR235. However the VAHR cut a few corners and showed .03 miles less distance. The FR235 showed turns and corners accurately, but with greater offset. Look at satellite. I ran on the road, not sidewalk, and against traffic flow. Elevation also appears correct on the VAHR after calibration, since I know the starting elevation on my street. FR235 elevation tracked similarly, but off quite a bit. Elevation corrections disabled.
I mainly was testing HR with both units. After both locked and I started, they generally showed the same and show same average and nearly identical max HR. I know my average HR was correct because of same route on previous run (several times) using Fenix 3 with Scosche Rythym +. I'm impressed with this sample of one on HR.
