Sync Failure Forerunner 235 and Garmin Connect App

Hi

Bought the 235 a couple of weeks ago and could sync perfectly with my former HTC mobile. At one point sync no longer worked 100%, e.g. only 200 steps where transfered to the app stats even though watched showed 7500.

Got following msg in Connect Cockpit. Looks like you changed time zones. Your charts will make more sense tomorrow. Nothing changed since than, wrong step count still in.

Than changed to Huawei Mate S and installed Garmin Connect App on the new phone. Since then sync no longer works at all and fails. I cant pair the phone with the Garmin 235 via the app. Doesnt recognise the Watch. I can pair via Bluetooth settings of the phone but App doesnt see the device and I can only sync via Garmin Express Desktop. Installed app several times, switched off phone and watch and read in forums but couldnt find a solution. I need to sync daily via the mobile app as I dont have access to desktop all the time. What can be done?

Thanks,

Badger
  • Which version of Android is running on your Huawei?

Do you have Location Settings enabled in the operating system when you're attempting to pair your watch with the phone in the Garmin Connect Mobile app?

I'm having similar issues today. My Forerunner 235 was just pushed a new update via bluetooth from by android phone (Nexus 6P). It looks like it was the new sensor hub 2.70 update (version listed in watch about section). Not sure if anything else new was installed. Anyway, the update from the watch installed fine. However, after the update, I can't seem to get my watch to sync with my phone anymore. I've never had this issue before. I restarted the watch and phone and the issue still persists. The watch asks me to pair again with my phone with new pair code. When I enter the code, the watch screen hangs on "Ready to Pair" screen. After about half a minute, it says to "Try Again" and to follow steps on Garmin Connect Mobile. I've tried pairing again repeatedly and have been unsuccessful. Anyone else have similar issues since updating?

Same here, but a quick reboot of the 235 and all was well again.

Same for my wife and me.

ETA - After I rebooted my watch and my phone -- it worked...

I got it to pair again. It didn't work the first few times because I was trying to pair directly from the bluetooth settings on the phone, like I would with any other bluetooth device. I finally remembered that I had to pair the watch using the Garmin Connect app and enable pairing mode on the watch. After I did that, pairing was successful.
