Watch keeps restarting every half a hour / loosing activity tracking data (fw 4.3)

Hi,

I bought this watch yesterday and it came with fw 4.1 / 2.50 . First day was ok, but this morning I updated to fw 4.3 / 2.60 and it keeps restarting about every half an hour.

This means loosing all data which wasn't synced yet and clearing 4 hours hr graph. So from my today 1 hour walk I have nothing tracked. As one of my priority for this watch was activity tracking this is really dissapointing.

Tried to load factory settings and removed all IQ apps, but it doesn't seems to help. Anybody had same issue?

I knew from past that software development in garmin is bad, and its quite sad that nothing changed as it seems.
  • I'd return it for a new 235. Sounds like you got a bad one.
  • Hmm, its for sure software related, yesterday before fw update it went fine.

It seems that it is related with bluetooth connectivity. I turned off bluetooth and it didn't restart yet.
  • I am enclosing error file. I did hard reset, reinstalled firmware and even unpair and reinstall garmin connect, but it is still the same. I was just looking on the watch when it restarted last time. There was default watch face and then suddenly garmin booting logo.. I am not so sure now it it started with 4.30, because I didn't have previously connected phone to watch and the issue is for sure bluetooth syncing related.

But I am now confused, that in error log I see also records before the master reset. I thought everything should be erased by this...

BTW the watch are connected to Sony Xperia Z1 compact with Android 5.1.1
  • Have started having the same problem since 4.3. Watch reboots with bluetooth on. Interestingly, I also have a Sony Xperia Z1 compact.
  • Ok good, so its really sw issue... Is there somewhere firmware 4.20 to download?

Wow, I'm having this issue on my Z1 compact too

Just after the update. I worked out today before the update and it worked fine.

Tried a soft reset with no luck. So I turned off the bluettoth and it seems that it's not rebooting.

It's so sad when you have it working and an update mess with it.

    Let's wait for an answer

    Same issues

I'm having same issues. Watch resets and then displays wrong time and date
  • It's so sad when you have it working and an update mess with it.

It's even sadder, when you have watch working only first 10 hours after purchuase. I just hope somebody will be able to point me to older firmware so I would not need to send watch to service center...

    EDIT: Found it: http://gawisp.com/perry/forerunner/Forerunner235_420.gcd

Will try it in the evening or tomorrow. I don't have a cable now.
  • Hello from Spain,

I'm having the same problem. After upgrading to version 4.3, the clock resets every half hour approx. I have a bluetooth enabled Nexus 4. I will try to turn off the bluetooth to see what happens.

    regards,
