New 4.30 firmware

Hi,
I've installed new 4.30 firmware on my Garmin 230 and a problem occurred with a current time. I have set "auto update time" and everything was OK with firmware 4.20 - the watch was successfully synchronizing the time with my smartphone.
Now (with v. 4.30) it is setting completely wrong time. I had to turn "auto update" option off.
Does anybody else have the same problem?...

Had this issue with 4.20. With auto update time on, getting a GPS lock seemed to correct the time when starting the watch up.

From the Forerunner 230/235 Owner's Manual,

    Time Settings
    ___⋮
    Set Automatically
Allows you to set the time manually or automatically based on your GPS position.

The clock time on your smartphone has nothing to do with it, and Garmin Connect Mobile will not regard your smartphone as an authoritative source for the current time. Furthermore, in spite of the connotations of the word ‘synchronisation’, syncing your watch with the Garmin Connect Mobile app does not adjust the time on the watch.

My experience has been when that the first time I traveled internationally, I tried to get a GPS fix but could not get it in the airport. When I could not get a fix, I tried to sync my steps with GCM. If my phone updated the timezone, I noticed that the watch updated the time to the new timezone also once it synced with GCM. So while it may not synchronize the time, but syncing the watch with GCM will at least update the displayed timezone. The sunrise/sunset details did not change until I got a GPS fix.

As to the original question, I too had a similar problem when installing FW 4.10, but have not had any issue since.

It looks like everyone is right... :D
Previously I noticed, that definitely after connecting to the smartphone, my watch time was synchronized in a few seconds.
Today (after firmware update) I had the same - the time changed after connection, but incorrectly.
But later on I went for a run and my watch fixed GPS signal. After returning home I noticed, that my watch shows a proper time!
    Strange...

I am having the exact same problem
  • See ASmugDill's post above, time is set by GPS, nothing else. Go for a run and it'll fix itself

Hi, I downloaded 4.30 version last Monday. First couple of days it seems everything was OK, but since then the device doesn't sync with my cell phone neither with the ant band for heart rate.
Is anyone experience the same problems?
I bought 230 last January and this is the first time I update the software, I am pretty disappointed
Thanks in advance for your help
