Post your experiences in this thread.
From the sticky:

Changes made from version 4.20 to 4.30:
•Added support for Connect IQ 1.2.6.
•Added support for searching for sensors manually.
•Improved the battery performance when used at sub-freezing temperatures.

Not really going to get too excited about this one.

I'm not sure what this means:Added support for searching for sensors manually.
Does this relate to the issue where the watch is automatically connecting to someone else's sensor?

Definitely won't be benefitting from: Improved the battery performance when used at sub-freezing temperatures.
At sub zero, I will be indoors in the warm! Hopefully it will benefit some of you :-)

I'll join the rest and say that my avg 7 day RHR (on the 235) has been steadily increasing since 4.3 was installed. The daily RHR is about 10-15 bpm higher than before. With 4.2, the RHR seemed low, as the 235 seemed to record these random drops. I'm pretty sure my numbers should be somewhere between the two.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention, in Garmin Connect Mobile, the 7 day average for my RHR seems about what I'm used to seeing.

Nothing is messed up, it just doesn't have the immediate widget data history. The firmware updates effectively erases the onboard history of RHR which is mostly just a temporary storage value for that widget.... After the update, your RHR is whatever low value you have when it first boots up, at least until you're resting enough for it to get a good RHR reading.

I think something is messed up. Even if you're correct and my RHR value of 70 came after my update and reboot, my HR graph shows my HR dropped well below 70 throughout the day. My RHR can't be 70 when I spent a good portion of the day in the sixties.

Update: It's been 14 hrs since the update and even though my HR dropped into the sixties for quite a bit today, my RHR has risen from 70 to 71 now. Hey Garmin. This is a mathematical impossibility! Please fix what has become a piece of garbage.

My RHR is slowly returning to something resembling normality, although I'm not sure how its working it out. Also umbers in the 7 day history have changed! E,g, my Friday reading was around 70. Its now about 51 on the 7 day watch graph. Readings since Friday seem to be about right. But if I look at the watch now, my "Low" reading is 51. But the watch says my RHR is 57?? Also I can no longer trust my lowest figure. Previously I could never trust the "high" reading due to random spikes. Now with 4.3 there appears to be random dips. Not sure if the watch is using these? Perhaps the watch needs to see consecutive or repeated low readings to calculate the RHR which could explain why my watch low reading is actually lower than my RHR reading? Who knows...

I have the same situation. RHR is now at 57, but lows are around 51.
Somehow in 4.3 RHR is higher than Low. In 4.2 it was the opposite, RHR was lower than the Low.
Don't know which one is right. Maybe they will fix this in the next update.

    I see the same behavior
My 235 w 4.3 now shows RHR 49,while I'm staring at the display showing current HR 42

The last version seemed to pick any instantaneous low and make it the RHR
This version , so far, seems to say "no,your current HR is unacceptable, stop looking, we've decided your RHR is higher

  • I'm seeing the same as many others a low which is significantly lower than the RHR displayed for the day. The recent changes have totally destroyed my faith in this aspect of the product. I purchased it because of this improvement (!) over the 230. It seems it has taken just two updates to get me to wonder whether the advertised feature is actually working or reliable.

Could Garmin please issue more information about changes in updates and also inform us of what the various data items are supposed to be telling us and how that result is obtained ??? I.e. is RHR observed over a set period to update where a low could be a instantaneous reading only...without help we don't know !

Come on Mr Garmin talk to us.

    RHR in 4.3

With 4.2 the watch seemed to pick up any instantaneous low and use it to set the RHR
Now w 4.3, the RHR seems to ignore very reasonable and stable HR readings and fails to update the RHR
It would be nice if garmin explained the logic behind the RHR value

    wonky 4.3 RHR

I updated to 4.3 last night, in 4.2 I would get what seemed to be an instantaneous HR reading and the watch would quickly set RHR to that reading, which tended to be on the low side versus the previous firmware

now with 4.3, I see a good and steay HR on the heart rate screen, and it's lower than RHR, but the watch doesn't adjust the RHR to match
the inconsistency between firmware versions is disappointing. It would also be nice if Garmin would explain the Mechanics of how the watch decides what the RHR is.

    Hi,
It seems my VO2 max is no more sync. with GC using fw 4.3.
I did a run yesterday, my vo2 max increased from 55 to 56. On the watch, it's display 56 but always 55 on the phone and there is no dot on vo2 Max for this day...
All other information are well sync.

Is anyone have the same issue ?

    Thanks.

Garmin has received reports of Vo2 Max no longer syncing to Garmin Connect and engineering teams are investigating. We are also looking into the reports of issues with RHR values being discussed in this forum. We do apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused. We do not have a time frame on when this will be resolved, but it is being actively investigated.

My problem with the Garmin 4.3 is when I start the activity (run) mark right the HR but ten minute later the HR mark 80-90ppm and this is imposible.... I don't understand. What happends with the heart rated ??

    Best regards
