Record multiple workouts in one single activity

Hi,

Did I miss something or is it impossible on FR 235 to record multiple workouts in the same activity?

To explain, with my FR 610, I do the warmup by simply starting the chrono. After 20'-30', I start a programmed interval workout. When it is finished, I relaunch the chrono for some cooldown.
I do not include warmup and cooldown in the programmed workout as it is too rigid and I like to adapt to the mood of the day.
In the end, those different sequences are all in the same activity on Garmin Connect.

With FR 235, when I stop the warmup, I cannot select a workout. I can only resume the warmup or record it. Finally, I have 3 distinct activities for warmup + workout + cooldown, not convenient.

Would someone have a solution? Thanks.

In that regard, the FR235 will not do what you want in the way you imagined it.

    That's too bad.

No solution for getting what you want, only workarounds so that you can achieve close to the functional and/or information outcome(s) you want, with some compromise on your part and/or use additional tools.

You can create (multiple) custom workouts with open-ended Warm Up and Cool Down steps, but if you don't like to do so and resent having to press the Lap button on your watch to conclude those steps, then you have a dilemma of your own creation as a user. You can adapt to the mood of the day, but not the whim of the moment after you've completed your warm-up and defer the decision of which workout to do only until then.

Use garmin connect to create a Workout of your choice.

@CHAMFR, you can use Garmin Connect to create your custom running workout.

    WarmUp:
    - Duration: Lap Button Press

    Interval:
    - {Here you define your intervals}

    CoolDown:
    - Duration: Lap Button Press

This way, you do WarmUp and CoolDown for any Duration and you decide when to go to next activity by pressing the Lap Button.

Thank you guys for your feedbacks, it's clear.
I'll think about changing my habits or return the 235 and keep the 610.

  • Just add an open warmup and open cooldown in your interval program. This can be done for both a simple interval (programmed directly on the watch) or more complex (programmed in Garmin Connect or other compliant apps). Then all you need to do when executing the program is hit the Lap button to pass from warmup to intervals, and the cooldown starts automatically when your interval program is completed. That's the purpose of the open-mode warmup and cooldowns. I do this on the FR610, and it works just the same on the FR23x.
  • This was kind of a cold, rather unpleasant response. Anyone with more brain plasticity got a response that might help? I’d love to be able to do a Garmin Coach run and once the workout is over start a new run without ending the actual activity on the watch (ie I’d like one fit file for my two runs instead of two files). In other words, can I add a workout at the end of my workout?

  • Yes, I would like to do the same if anyone can help. In fact, I have a few custom workouts I have created of Garmin connect. I use Garmin epix. At the end of a workout (let's say an abs session) and might want to work on by back (I have a workout for that too). Currently I have to end my strength session and start a new one. This means am not recording two separate activities. That's not how I want to analyse my workout
