Recovery heart rate

The manual says you can get a 2 minute recovery heart rate with an external hrs monitor but doesn't give details of how. Can anyone help?

When you stop an activity and before saving it, you just wait 2 minutes and then the watch displays the recovery heart rate after that you can save or resume the activity.
