Watch rapidly discharging even when turned off

From 100% to 40% in less than 24 hours, while turned off. Crap.
  • Seems to be a known issue, but as it looks like the latest firmware update did not fix that. That's why I chose not to switch off my watch.

Wish I had seen this BEFORE turning mine off!

Did the 4.2 update yesterday or day before with no problems. Noticed that sleep did not synch from last night. It showed total hours, but nothing about deep and light sleep, no graph
After searching the forum here, someone suggested turning the watch on and off to get to that data. So, I did for ~3-4 minutes (phone was ~82% charged prior to turning off). Off seems to be a permanent off now.

When connected to USB cable and computer, display shows 88% charged, time, and USB connection. As soon as it is disconnected from the charging cable, it rapidly fades to black like the battery is dead within 10 seconds. No response. Re-connecting it to the charging cable takes a minute or two before it buzzes and the screen comes back on to show time, 92% charged, and USB connection. Disconnect, fades to black in <10 seconds again. Repeat -95% charged.

Finally, at 100% charged, it seemed to start up and stay on. Now, there is no graph for the last 4 hours of HR. Although current HR and RHR are displayed. Still no sleep data for last night in Garmin Connect , even with synch a few minutes ago.

Is there a way to revert to the previous update via Garmin Connect or Web Updater?
Otherwise, I have a $350 brick that I bought just 4 days ago. The instantaneous discharge on turn off is a huge problem. The loss of sleep data is also removes a major selling point of the device.
